Favorites.

This is what I love in my house today:
I bought the happy yellow daffodils at the
produce market for $1.00 a bunch.
I put them in a vase and outside on my porch table.

And I put a few bouquets on my built-in hutch, too.
When we moved to the Lazona Estate, we painted
(when I say "we painted," I actually mean Christian painted)
the kitchen cupboards are "retro green."
 I love it.
Also, I love the framed botanical pictures that I saved from
an old calendar I had in high school.
I also should note that it is very nice to have a spot for my
collection of cake plates and dishes.
Because I love cake plates, and dishes, and books.
And books on top of cake plates.

Lunch Naked

This is what we did today:
First, I rigged up an outdoor shower for the children.
It was a hit!
I was pretty surprised at how gross and dirty they can get
just by playing in our backyard.
This rigged-up shower has been a lifesaver.

We ate outside for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
(Arizona, you are a dream...right now anyway.
I might feel different about you in June).
We visited my favorite outdoor food market and bought the best
produce money can buy---err, I should say the best produce
Page's money can buy.  Page bought the groceries.....thanks Page! :)
The kids ate lunch in the sun naked.

Page, you are welcome to the Nielson home anytime.
(And not just because you bought the groceries.)
But because I LOVE YOU, and you make me so happy!
We had some good times, didn't we!?
Remember that guy at the bakery who got mad at us for letting our
children pick the flowers from the sidewalk planters?
Then he told us ABOUT 40 TIMES that the flowers were
TAXPAYER MONEY!!
Then remember he also told us that it was mothers like us
who allow our children to drown in pools because we don't
watch them.

I'll watch your kids if you'll watch mine?

I love you forever. I am glad we are mothers TOGETHER!

The Perfect Day.

It was one of those days.
A perfect day.

One of those lovely, happy days.
The kind of day where I could open the windows up wide
and let the spring air come blowing into the Lazona Estate!
The type of day where I could hear the birds chirping outside,
and where successful long naps were taken,
my children happy, and my heart content.
One of those kinds of days.
One of those days when I lay on my bed
(while the other three children ALL
miraculously napped...at the same time),
and nursed my adorable six-month-old blob-of-love, Nicholas, on my bed
without anyone else competing for my attention.
Out my window, I could hear the leaves on the mulberry tree rustle
in the soft, warm breeze.

Today reminded me of why I love being a mother,
and all of the happy times I'm having now and to come.
A perfect day that has created another happy memory in my head,
kinda like last night when
Mr. Nielson and I went to yoga together and
I just melted with love for him.
He'd wink at me whenever we'd be in a downward dog.

And this perfect day proved I could finally get my short hair into a ponytail!
It's teeny-tiny, but hey, I'm on my way! Hot dog!
This has never happened to me seriously,
I've had short hair all my life!!

One perfect day down, millions more to go.

Easter weekend.

Easter was our first holiday in the Lazona House!
On Saturday evening, while enjoying homemade pizza,
my little family also dyed Easter eggs and sang a few songs
about Peter Cottontail
(...hopping down the bunny trail, hippity hoppity Easters on its way....).
And then I remembered just how good
it feels to have a place of my own!
My very own to decorate, clean, and love inside and out!
On the morning of Easter Sunday, we were visited by the Godparents, who brought
a giant chocolate bunny named "the professor" for the godkids to maul.
(They always bring the best presents!).
I made oatmeal with fresh fruit and quickly served it before we left
the house to worship at church.
Look how cute my little monkeys look in their Easter best:

The children cleaned up pretty well for church- especially Oliver.
Sometimes we call him "Dirty Bill" name after this guy:
(He is one of our favorite Disney characters).

Next year I think I will celebrate the Easter bunny,
the baskets, and the candy on the Saturday before Easter.
I want to reserve Easter Sunday for the Savior.
It's HIS day, after all, and I've noticed that all the
fluff stuff is such a distraction to this sacred day.

Happy Easter.
I am grateful for the Savior, who we honor today!
