Ahhh nuts.

What do you have planned for the weekend?
We are hoping and praying for SNOW!
It is supposed to be a bit stormy, but nothing too impressive.  Darn.
{Family Christmas Card when we lived in New Jersey 2005}
Today Mr. Nielson and I were thinking about when we
lived in New Jersey years ago.
We were poor and lonely without family around for the holidays.
All we wanted to do was go to Costco and buy a bulk bag of nuts.
I wanted to put them in a big bowl in our kitchen
for our little family and visitors.
 On our tight grocery budget, it was hard to justify spending the $20.00
 on something so non-essential as that,
but it reminded us of home and it reminded us of happy times.
Nuts on the kitchen table meant Christmas, friends, family,
and spontaneous gatherings.
After our Costco run we came home with our nuts.
 I poured them in my Christmas bowl
and Mr. Nielson and I sat around our little kitchen table cracking
them open for our small children.
We both felt like we "made it".   We were a true family.
Today in our kitchen, we have a nice assortment of nuts for all to enjoy.
It still reminds me of my childhood.
As a child, I can see my dad cracking nuts and watching
a BYU basketball game on TV.
Or sitting around the table with my high school friends
chewing cashews, pistachios, and hazelnuts while deciding
what to do that evening.

{Life is awesome}

This weekend the Nielson family will:
-Go to Temple Square in Salt Lake City to see the lights.

{I'll remind you about this in the next few weeks}
 My sweet dear friend Beth painted this beautiful announcement
for me when I had Charlotte.
I love it.  It's one of my most favorite treasures in Charlotte's nursery.
Beth just had a little baby boy.  Congrats Beth-  I love ya.

Spiritual Enlightenment HERE
I just downloaded the soundtrack to "Life of Pi".
I think I have listened to it 30 times.

It is BEAUTIFUL and inspiring.
